What is Carolina Cart?

20 years ago, Frank had an idea for an online marketplace that would feature creators, vendors and products from around North and South Carolina. This idea would become Carolina Cart, and has now become a reality. Our website, CarolinaCart.com contains over a thousand products representing companies from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Lowcountry.

If you’ve been following our social media, you know we’ve been spotlighting all kinds of great items that are available on Carolina Cart, from Barkin Brew Bites dog treats to loose leaf tea by Full Moon Tea Company.

How does Carolina Cart work?

Carolinacart.com works on the Shopify Collective app, allowing us to curate and select retailers who already use Shopify services to run their online store. We have been finding North and South Carolina businesses and adding them to our collection, making it easier for you to browse through and shop from lots of companies in one place.  

As Carolina Cart grows, we will continue adding additional retailers and categories. There are currently about 35 businesses represented for you to browse and shop. You can order pet supplies from Dr. Milou in Durham, goats milk soap from Essential Journeys in Asheville, and authentic southern biscuits from Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit Charleston, all in one transaction. Then the items are shipped directly to you from each vendor.

Why shop Carolina Cart?

By focusing on businesses that are located in these two states, we encourage people from all over to support the regional economy of North and South Carolina.  We know that sometimes it seems like the mega corporations are just taking over everything, and it’s getting harder to find independent retailers. Carolina Cart gives you the opportunity to explore and support smaller businesses you might not know about, such as:    

• Bumble Holler Farm in Canton, North Carolina, selling home and body products  based on traditional Appalachian recipes.
• Pop Colors, from Greenville, South Carolina, with their creatively-themed colored pencils and coloring activities for kids, and adults.
• Doxie Guy, a Hickory, North Carolina business with small-batch BBQ sauce flavors named after their family’s pet dachshunds.
• Qubits, of Summerville, South Carolina, who make innovative building toys to give kids a fun, hands-on STEM experience.
